1st session of our spring songs series- we will be learning "vesnianky" from Polissia- region that occupies northern Ukraine, parts of Russia and Belorussia. Workshop led by Ekaterina and Mario- our friends from the Bulgarian troupe Medenglas!

"Vesnianky"* are ritual songs that call forth spring and were part of the spring rites in ancient times.  We will be learning these folk songs and "hailky": songs that are sung while dancing and playing traditional games at Easter time. No experience required. All are welcome! *"vesna" means spring in many Slavic languages

We will perform these songs as part of a community spring celebration on Sun April 19th, in Trinity Bellwoods Park: Hailky- Spring Revels in the Park.  Attendance at one workshop, and a minimum of 3 sessions is necessary to perform with us in the park.
