Opening at Snowball Gallery

Worth the Effort

All 4 Kosa members volunteered at the Organic Streetscape Projekt Opening at Snowball Gallery last week, and what can we say…we couldn’t have asked for a better turn-out ! Aside from fresh food from the dufferin grove farmers market, intriguing art pieces and marvelous musical performances by Ludy Dobri and Wordly Savages, kosa was happy to see such a long standing project supported by so many people. The gallery opening brought together artists, writers, music groupies and genuinely curious passers-by with an appreciation for Eastern European joie de vivre.

Thanks to the music, humidity and cramped quarters didn’t stop people from dancing until the very end. Those that wanted to party some more (even though they had to work
the next day) went to 751, the Worldy Savages’ home stage. As per usual , nothing could stop the energy, and the music and dancing spilled out onto the streets, well after last-call.

A big congratulations goes out to Kosa member Oksana for overseeing this amazing event AND finding the time to submit an incredible piece. And special thanks to Bozena for never sacrificing quality and ethics for convenience. Your organic open-faced sandwiches, fruit and delicious pickles were appreciated by everyone!

Also, congratulations to kosa member Steph and Bozena on their first gallery installations. We look forward to seeing more from you in the future. (For more information on the participating artists and a description of their work look out for the Organic Streetscape ZINE at Queen West Art Crawl, Bloor West Ukrainian Festival and Nuit Blanche at the Gladstone. )

Last but certainly not least, THANK YOU! Thursday could not have gone better, and we are happy you were there to dance and sing your hearts out and lend a little life to the usual austere gallery shtick. LIFE IS GOOD.

If you didn’t catch us at Snowball gallery on Thursday, below are a couple of photos you can live vicariously through.
